Started by a Travel Nurse

As a former travel nurse with nearly two decades experience in the industry, our founder Candy understands the highs and lows of life on the move as a healthcare travel professional. Living out of a suitcase, navigating temporary housing, and finding a community — she’s been there!

Candy turned her own challenges into expertise and has spent over a decade supporting and educating healthcare travelers in various capacities. Now, she has teamed up with fellow travel enthusiast Le to create Healthcare Traveler Academy with the goal of empowering you in your healthcare travel career.

Our mission is to provide a standardized educational program that ensures healthcare professionals are armed with accurate information and knowledge in order to navigate the healthcare staffing industry with confidence and ease.

For Agencies

Our mission is to provide a way for agencies to decrease onboard training specific to healthcare travelers by providing certification/verification for experienced healthcare travelers as a means for less turnover resulting from canceled contracts related to incompetence and un-preparedness.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I'm Candy!

I started my healthcare career as a CNA, advanced to LPN and eventually RN, then transitioned to embracing the challenges and opportunities of travel nursing for over 12 years. I've worked with various agencies, including the VA and Department of Defense.

As the founder of The Gypsy Nurse, I dedicated over a decade to supporting travel nurses through online resources, in-person programs, and building a thriving community before moving on to other endeavors. I played a key role in spearheading TravCon, the premier annual conference for healthcare travelers, and worked as an Events Coordinator at Nomad Summit.

I also have a heart for volunteerism. I have volunteered as an RN in Liberia, coordinated relief efforts for Hurricane Florence, and served as a board advisor for a non-profit in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Now, as the founder of Healthcare Traveler Academy, I want to support you with the lessons I've learned along my journey!

Hello, I'm Helena, or Le as I prefer! I hail from Brazil and love travel, having lived in 16 countries.

With a passion for empowering businesses to achieve their fullest potential, I've specialized in enhancing results and conversions for organizations at every stage of growth. My expertise lies in crafting tailored marketing solutions and strategic plans that not only meet but exceed objectives, fostering sustainable growth and long-term success.
